Surgical Light Price Guide: What Drives the Cost of Surgical Lights for Sale

What determines surgical light price: light source, single vs dual head, mounting, camera, certification, quantity, shipping and installation — plus how to compare quotes for surgical lights for sale.

Buyers reviewing surgical light drawings and a quotation at a desk beside a small surgical light model

"How much is a surgical light?" is the most frequent question we receive — and the honest answer is "it depends on the configuration". This guide explains what drives the surgical light price, so you can compare surgical lights for sale fairly and write an RFQ that gets an accurate quote.

The biggest cost drivers: LED vs halogen, number of heads, ceiling vs mobile mounting, integrated camera, and the certificates your market requires. Shipping, installation and service complete the picture.

1. Light source

Total cost of ownershipOften higher over 10 yearsOften lower

Full analysis: LED vs halogen surgical lights.

2. Configuration and performance

  • Single head vs dual head — a dual-head system roughly doubles the light hardware.
  • Illuminance class — 160,000 lux flagship domes vs 40,000–120,000 lux models like the KL-LED-SZ4.
  • Adjustable CCT, R9, endo mode — add electronics and optics.
  • Camera integration — HD or 4K camera, control and cabling: see surgical light camera systems.
  • Monitor arms on the same axis.

3. Mounting

MountingExtra cost items
CeilingCentral axis, suspension tube, anchor plate, installation
MobileBase, castors, optional battery
WallBracket, arm

See ceiling vs mobile surgical lights and installation planning.

4. Certification and registration

CE, FDA and national registrations cost the manufacturer money to obtain and maintain. Tenders that require specific test reports or local registration can affect price and lead time.

5. Quantity and commercial terms

  • Order quantity and mix of models.
  • Incoterm — EXW, FOB Shanghai, CIF/CFR destination port, DAP.
  • Packaging — export cartons vs wooden crates.
  • Payment terms and currency.
  • OEM labelling — see choosing a manufacturer or OEM partner.

6. Shipping, duties and installation

Freight, insurance, import duties, VAT, customs brokerage and local installation are often a significant share of the delivered cost. See shipping medical equipment internationally.

7. Service and spare parts

Warranty length, spare parts packages and training should be priced up front — they matter more over 10 years than a small difference in purchase price. See maintenance and repair.

How to compare quotes

  1. Compare like-for-like specifications — lux at 1 m, D10/D50, depth, Ra/R9, CCT, heads.
  2. Check that certificates cover the exact model.
  3. Normalise to the same Incoterm.
  4. Add installation, spares and service to each offer.
  5. Estimate 10-year operating cost (energy + bulbs + service).
  6. Ask for references in your region.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a surgical light cost?

There is no single price: cost depends mainly on light source (LED or halogen), number of heads, mounting (ceiling, mobile, wall), integrated camera, required certifications, order quantity, shipping terms and installation. Ask for a quotation based on your exact configuration.

Why are ceiling surgical lights more expensive than mobile ones?

The light heads can be similar; the difference is mostly in the ceiling mount, suspension tube, long arms, structural anchor and installation work. Mobile lights need no installation.

Are LED surgical lights more expensive than halogen?

LED lights usually have a higher purchase price but a lower total cost of ownership because of lower power use, no regular bulb replacement and longer life (around 50,000 hours for Keling LED models).

Where can I find surgical lights for sale?

From manufacturers and their authorised distributors. Buying from a manufacturer like Keling Medical gives factory pricing, full technical documentation and OEM options; local distributors add installation and service.

Why doesn't Keling publish prices online?

Because the final price depends on configuration, quantity, destination, certification and Incoterm. Keling quotes every project individually once it receives a complete RFQ.
